Navy Suede is a strong trend at the moment, with both Crockett & Jones and Alden offering variations on the theme.
Tom and his crew at LeatherSoul offer this Plain Toe Blucher on the FlexWelt sole. A soft, downy navy with the hint of chocolate brown in the sole edge and lace. The Barrie last looks best on smaller feet, to my eye, and this pair for Phat Gee are exactly right. I see them worn sans socks, with a white denim rolled short and a navy cotton odd jacket. Or a pair of SugarCane 66's and a white polo.
A way to get quietly soused on a Saturday afternoon.
2 parts whisky
2 parts Carlson's Ginger Cordial
4 parts San Pellegrino sparkling
Carlson's Handcrafted is an Australian company making a variety of cordials, preserves, marmalades and cakes. Their product is exceptional, as far as I can tell, and the Ginger Cordial is rich and spicy without being metallic in the mouth.
Carlson's work alongside growers and producers such as Colo River Organic Citrus and Champion's Mountain Organic, and the quality of the finished product is testimony to the care put into growing the best fruits.
So to the gent that pulled me aside at their stand in North Sydney Growers Markets this morning - you are right, the Ginger Cordial is just my cup of tea, and with a dram of whisky added, even better.
The Edward Green Dover, as done by Tom and his team at LeatherSoul.
Made on the 606 last, this blucher is as elegant as a blucher can be. The gently square toe box gives the shoe a masculinity without clumpiness, and the finish of the inverted toe split gains a new dimension as it is polished, and it's character starts to show through. The Double leather soul in natural keeps it utilitarian, whilst the Edwardian Antique colour gives it old world timelessness.
Polished with Saphir Pate De Luxe in Acajou and Neutral.
